How to Make Gathered Flowers

Equipment Required:

• Your Chosen Ribbons
• Sewing Needle
• Pins
• Thread
• Tape Measure
• Scissors
• Stamens / Pearls
• Floristry Wires
• Glue (Hot Glue Gun or Craft Glue)

To begin, collect this equipment together.

Step One: Take the specific ribbons that are provided in your kit to make your gathered flowers.

Ruby = Nebbiolo + Mushroom Crushed Satin

Citrine = Oyster Chiffron

Gold = Olive Silk + Ivory Wired Organza

Aquamarine = Cornflower Chiffon + Mushroom Crushed Satin

Amethyst = Foxglove Chiffon + Aubergine Satin

Step Two: To make your first flower, cut 3x 40cm pieces of ribbon. Lay all 3 together on top of on eanother, pin, and using double thread sew a running stitch along the bottom edge.

Step Three: Now, pluss the cotton, gather your ribbon up tightly, and make a few stitches at the end to secure the gathers in place.

 

Step Four: Next, join one end of the gathers to the other to form a circle. Pull tightly to close the gap, make a few stitches and tie a knot to complete.

Step Five: Tease your ribbon layers apart to create a full bloom.

Step Six: To attach the stamens / pearls, take a wire and bend over 5cms at the top. Thread your pearl, or twist and glue 3 double ended stamens into the top of the bent wire. Wind the remaining wire down the stem.

Step Seven: Thread the wire down through the centre of the flower and position the pearl / stamens. Then, turn over and apply a little glue at the back, to keep the wire in place.

Finally: Cut the wires to your desired length and arrange in a vase to create a beautiful display that will last all year long.
